I was listening to Bob Marley one day and it hit me. The reason why people of all cultures love this song so much is that Bob Marley is giving us all the highest affirmation possible by calling us all god-men 50 times when he says “We Jah-men!”. Jesus made a similar reference that was considered blasphemous in John 10:34 when he said “Is it not written in your law, I said ye are gods”(Referencing Psalms 82:6). I love the play on words. Read the lyrics of the song; It’s definitely not a party song, though most people assume it is. It’s more of a prayer or affirmation. You won’t find Lil’ John & The Eastside Boyz making tracks like this though they have the look down (see Lil Bob).
